Saint Agnes of Rome is the patron saint of virgins and girls. She was a martyr of the early Christian Church and a symbol of purity. She is one of seven women who were beheaded (not crucified) for her faith around 304 AD in Rome. There are very few existing facts about Saint Agnes, and even her genuine identity was in question for several centuries. Unlike many other saints, there is almost no information about Saint Agnes’s life before she was martyred.
